Coco Chanel

Do you know what is "Coco Chanel"?
I personally do not really know until I watch the movie last Tue by the NTC in the event of E&I week.

Coco Chanel is a product that every lady loves it!
I heard all the ladies are screaming...  =)

Coco is a person, to be precise is her nickname, her real name is Gabrielle.
She was not come from the wealthy family nor good reputation. Yet she had a dream to become successful.
Throughout the movie, actually she is kind of a blur woman yet she really kept on going and moving forward towards her goal.

What made her successful not because she got a lot of connection which she HAD some important / key person that influenced her success, but I am sure she is WILLING to LEARN and LISTEN to those people who are SUCCESSFUL around her (today term's is MENTOR).
Moreover she doesn't want to be in the COMFORT zone as a rich guy wanted to marry her and provide her everything she needed yet she REFUSED it.

The movie is mainly about her love story and its quite sad actually but it somehow trigger her to the next level of her success I believe.

At the end of the movie, her dream is come true and we are the witness to what her success is all about, correct LADIES?
=p

Pls do share with us, if you have some other great story that can empower each other!
Thanks!

Learning by Visualisation?

What makes you learn better?

are they by memorizing, doing it again and again / exercise more, or are there any other alternative ways to absorb things better?

There is one way that I found out, which is by visualization.

How to do that?

it is for example learning language.
You want to learn english for example, say FIREWORKS.
How to know that FIREWORKS is a FIREWORKS?

We can try to imagine or play the video of Olympic Opening Ceremony where there are alot of fireworks in that event. Therefore by doing this, we could absorb better and have a great understanding of this word.

And we can use it after we imagine for the other things.

Example,
Fireworks is very beautiful, so much so there are competition around the world to showcase their country who perform the best.

Do share with us, what other ways to learn more effectively without memorizing?

Relationship in school related to performance?

Is it true that parents can be worry-free regarding their's teenagers' sex lives that affecting the school performance?

The news article said "It's not so much whether a teen has sex that determines academic success, but the type of sexual relationship they're engaged in. Serious relationship may find social and  emotional support in their sex partners, reducing their anxiety and stress levels in life and in school."

How do you think about this?
Do you agree with this?

For me, I somehow agree until certain extent!

Basic Value to Success - MM Lee point-of-view

MM mentioned the ability to improve on what has been done and basic values like meritocracy have led to Singapore's success.

3 Basic Value to Success :
1. Leaders of High Integrity
2. Meritocracy & level playing field for all
3. English as working language

Environmental-campaign @ YOG 2010

Interesting approach by the YOG committee by implementing useful prepaid card system so called "paperless" system.

What this card can do?
1. get into the venue;
2. enjoy free public transport, which is strongly recommended by the organisers;
3. and pay for services and goods at selected outlets.

More stuff, happier?

Have we ever thought of buying less stuff, and being choosier about purchases? and what do you think makes you happy?

One major finding is that spending money for an experience — concert tickets, French lessons, sushi-rolling classes, a hotel room in Monaco — produces longer-lasting satisfaction than spending money on plain old stuff.

Another interesting argument is, “If Money Doesn’t Make You Happy Then You Probably Aren’t Spending It Right.” (The Journal of Consumer Psychology plans to publish it in a coming issue.)

Thomas DeLeire, an associate professor of public affairs, population, health and economics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, discovered that the only category to be positively related to happiness was leisure: vacations, entertainment, sports and equipment like golf clubs and fishing poles.

Share with us what you think about money and happiness.
Do you tend to want, and spend money on, “stuff” or experiences? What do you notice about material objects and your own happiness?
How do you think you would feel if, like the couple profiled in the article, you gave away some or even most of your stuff?
